William Villalongo's Myths and Migrations travels to Madison Museum of Contemporary Art! The show will be on view 3 May - 11 August 2024, with an opening reception held 4 May 2024 from 5 - 8 pm, during which Villalongo will discuss the evolution of his artistic practice, culminating with his works from Myths and Migrations. Following the talk, composer and pianist Igor Santos will perform a collaborative multi-media piano piece.

Closed to the public for the past decade, this historic home has been restored and will now serve as an art gallery and event space. William Villalongo's Still Life with Quilt and Drinking Gourds (2021) is featured in EMBODIED: Highlights from The Ringling Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art. During this durational performance, dancers interact with sculptures inspired by African headrests, their movements heavily drawing from contemporary dance and voguing.
