In an effort to render a cogent representation of the evolution of Black identity, Villalongo collects and collages motifs from the Black Mediterranean and Black Atlantic. Seen in "Cangrejo Antiguo," the signs and symbols of two histories are scattered over the ocean floor caught in the claws of a large crustacean.
